Congratulations to Dr. Chiraag Gupta on his ID Week Abstract Acceptance!

  🎉   We’re thrilled to share that second-year fellow, Dr. Chiraag Gupta,  under the mentorship of our Pharmacy faculty, Dr. Curt Collins, with co-authors: Dr. Holly Murphy and Dr. Jennifer Chou (Department of Pharmacy Services, Trinity Health Livonia)  had his abstract titled  “Pharmacist-driven Methicillin-resistant  Staphylococcus aureus  Nasal Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Screening in Multi-hospital System Reduced Resistant Gram-positive Antibiotics Use and Standardized Antimicrobial Administration Ratio (SAAR)” , officially accepted for presentation at  IDWeek 2025 , taking place October 19–22 in Atlanta, GA! Dr. Gupta has also been honored with an  IDWeek Abstract Travel Award , a competitive recognition that supports outstanding research and helps offset travel expenses for in-person attendance. Welcome Dr. Durga Bhandari!

Dr. Durga Bhandari joined our fellowship on July 1, 2025!  Dr. Durga Bhandari completed his Internal Medicine training at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Nepal. Since finishing his residency in 2014, he has worked at the CIWEC Travel Medicine Center in Kathmandu, which is recognized as one of the most reputable travel medicine centers in the world. CIWEC is internationally known for its participation in the GeoSentinel global surveillance program, a collaboration between the CDC and the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM). In his role at CIWEC, Dr. Bhandari has been instrumental in providing Internal Medicine and ICU care to ill travelers from around the globe. He has encountered a diverse range of infectious diseases affecting these travelers. We are pleased to support his continued training in Clinical Infectious Diseases through our ID Fellowship, which will advance his expertise in Clinical ID, Tropical, and Travel Medicine.
