Infectious Diseases Podcasts Recommendations

One way our current second-year fellow, Dr. Brianna Hatch-Vallier, stays up to date on developments in ID is listening to podcasts! She has shared several that she listens to regularly.  "Febrile" which discusses interesting cases with expert guests. The best for ID level knowledge with clinical reasoning and management. "This Podcast Will Kill You" discusses biology, history, and epidemiology of various infectious diseases. Less applicable clinically but very fun to listen to and informative. "IDPodcasts" from USF Health on Youtube. Less of a "podcast" and more of a lecture format, but targeted toward Fellow level learning of important ID topics.

Journal Club 4/11/24 - Opportunistic Treatment of Hepatitis C Infection Among Hospitalized People Who Inject Drugs

Journal Club  - 4/11/24 In Journal Club we covered " Opportunistic Treatment of Hepatitis C Infection Among Hospitalized People Who Inject Drugs (OPPORTUNI-C): A Stepped Wedge Cluster Randomized Trial" by Midgard, et al that was published in CID March 2024. This paper evaluated the effect of initiation of DAA for treatment of hepatitis C upon discharge from the hospital as compared with standard of care (outpatient referral to specialist). Our discussion focused on interpretation of the findings, applicability and feasibility of applying the studied method into our practice.
